Hi my name’s Luke. I’m a musician and I write articles on a wide range of topics- economics, moral philosophy, technology, history, politics, science- with a general focus on critical thinking and how it influences the way we live our lives. I have a mix of left wing and libertarian views. I started reading novels and non fiction literature when I was still in my early teens. In college I became fascinated by the relationship of knowledge between fields and studied a wide variety of disciplines. This blog in many ways is a reflection of that patchwork of learning and how it influenced my life perspective. Check out my reading list for recommended books.
My influences include Yuval Noah Harari, Richard Dawkins, Adam Smith, Daniel Kahneman, Derek Parfit, Daniel Gilbert, Alexis de Tocqueville, Sam Harris, R.G. Price, Noam Chomsky, John Rawls, Bertrand Russell, Steven Pinker, Hannah Arendt, Jeremy Bentham, Peter Singer, Gerald Cohen, Jerry Coyne, Christopher Hitchens, Alan Watts, Charlie Brooker, and Adam Curtis.
Beyond reading and writing, I’m also passionate about music and songwriting. Between composing hundreds of songs, playing in multiple bands and gigging dozens of shows, music has been a major creative outlet in my life. Check out my music portfolio to listen to my crafts or my songwriting section of my blog to see how I compose plus other songwriting tips. Outside my creative interests I enjoy hiking, gaming, animation, and cryptography. My goal of this blog is to continue building reader-friendships through sharing new and interesting content while having an open dialogue with my audience; so please let me know your thoughts!
