Hi my name’s Luke. I write articles on a wide range of topics- songwriting, politics, moral philosophy, religion, economics, technology, science, happiness- with a general focus on critical thinking and how it influences the way we live our lives. If I had to describe my current beliefs in a couple of labels I would say I’m a secular humanist, logical positivist, and prioritarian leftist.

I started reading classical novels and science fiction literature when I was still in my early teens. In college I became fascinated by the relationship of knowledge between fields and studied a wide variety of disciplines. This blog in many ways is a reflection of that patchwork of learning and how it influenced my life perspective. Check out my reading list for recommended books.

My influences include Derek Parfit, Adam Smith, Jeremy Bentham, John Rawls, Noam Chomsky, Christopher Hitchens, R.G. Price, Carl Sagan, John Rawls, Peter Singer, Richard Dawkins, Julia Galef, Robert Reich, Thomas Ferguson, Karl Marx, Gerald Cohen, Alain de Botton, Maria Popova, Bertrand Russell, G. E. Moore, Adam Curtis, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Charlie Brooker, Sam Harris, Alan Watts, Bernie Sanders, Yanis Varoufakis, Hannah Arendt and Steven Pinker.

Beyond reading and writing, I’m also passionate about music and songwriting. Between composing hundreds of songs, playing in multiple bands and gigging dozens of shows, music has been a major creative outlet in my life. Check out my music portfolio to listen to my crafts or my songwriting section of my blog to see how I compose plus other songwriting tips.

Outside my creative interests I enjoy gaming, animation, traveling and sports. My goal of this blog is to continue building reader-friendships through sharing new and interesting content while having an open dialogue with my audience; so please let me know your thoughts!
